I am living in Pretoria in South Africa - a big city that is about one hour from Johannesburg by car. I enjoyed Japan very much, but I really enjoy being back in my own country too.

I work for the United States Centres for Disease Control. I really enjoy my job and last year I had the opportunity to go to America to attend training an a meeting. I have also had the chance to travel around South Africa for work - to places such as Cape Town and Durban.  I still am involved with the Japanese Embassy and their activities in Pretoria.

My mom is well and she and my step-father are still living in Port Elizabeth - a city on the coast.  Last year in December, my mom and I travelled to England to visit my brother and his wife for two weeks. My brother's wife is English.  On Monday the 25th of August my brother's wife gave birth to their first child, a little girl called Grace (I have attached a photo).  My mom and I hope to visit them again soon!

I attend Waterkloof Baptist Church in Pretoria and I am blessed to be a part of the Christian community there!  I also attend a Bible study on Thursday evenings with a smaller group of people.
Since I have been back in South Africa I have also visited Botswana and Namibia and have been camping in those beautiful  countries.
I miss many things about Japan - especially the people I got to know there!  In Pretoria there are many sushi restaurants and there is a Japanese restaurant called Matsuya here. I can also buy tofu and nori here, but only from the Chinese supermarket.

I would love too visit Japan again! I hope that you are well and I may try and write in Japanese next time!

With love,
Michelle
